BMW key systems in one minute
Older BMWs (E46, E39, E53) use EWS. From about 2004 to 2016 most use CAS. F-series cars from about 2012 moved to FEM and then BDC, which continues on G-series cars. The system decides how the key is made and how long it takes. Details: which BMW key system do I have.
Slot or start button
If your BMW has a slot in the dash for the key, it's an older CAS car. If it has only a start button, it may be CAS4, FEM or BDC. Tell us which you have.
